1 – Sports Project
The Friends are pleased that the new Sports Arena has now been completed and is in full use on most days. Amazing to see the difference from 2006 – 2018 – hope everyone enjoys using it. Blackpool FC Community Trust is already running Football sessions on Saturday evenings from 6-9pm. The Friends are also in negotiations with a local Netball team to run netball sessions starting in the autumn. Look out for this new schedule when it’s available. We – the Friends – are also looking for a ‘Basketball Coach’ to encourage youngsters to also play this game on the new area.
2 – Table Tennis Project
December 2017 – Well the great news is that not only have we raised £200 from the Asda Community Fund but Beaverbrook’s the Jewellers have said they will fund the project to install the Table for Table Tennis and the coaching costs involved to run this project so we will be looking forward to a Super Summer.
July 2018 our new Table for Table Tennis has been installed thanks to Beaverbrook’s for sponsoring the project. Bats ad balls are being provided as and when the ‘Friends’ are able to, otherwise please feel free to bring your own and enjoy playing ‘PING’ on the newly installed table.
3 – Pavilion Project
The refurbishment work is now finished with help from the Community Payback Team, materials supplied for the first phase by Blackpool Council Parks Department and local merchants; Chadwick’s who supplied materials for the second phase of this work. The inside of the Pavilion is looking amazing and a lot fresher. It is great being able to use our newly refurbished building which wouldn’t have been possible with out the help of all those involved especially the Community Payback Team and Chadwick’s. Huge Thanks to all concerned.
We do not currently have any heat or water supplies but this will be the next phase of the work. However we are currently looking for help/funding with this next phase. If you know anyone who can help, please ask them to get in touch with the Friends Secretary.
In the meantime we hope it will be used by the local community including the Park’s Crown Green Bowling Team, Park Committee Meetings for the Adults and the Youth Committee, local school children to study and many others. Fortunately we do have access to utilities in the Bowlers Hut that we can use if the pavilion is in use. We look forward to showing everyone the new improvements.
